SiC TECHNOLOGICAL BASE

  • SiC is synthesized as a mass product for abrasives, refractory and high performance ceramics already.
  • The base materials SiO2 (sand) and C (carbon, coke, …) are abundantly available on earth compared to metals. Electrical energy is necessary for the high temperature synthesis process.
  • The manufacturing of SiC components, also containers, is feasible and industrial practice today.
  • With the laser bonding technology CERALINK@ and the native bonding technology for SSiC the key technologies for encapsulation are readily available.
