Following indispensable requirements have to be fulfilled:

high corrosion resistance in acidic, neutral and basic environment
high temperature stability at variable atmospheres
high thermal conductivity and shock resistance
diamond-like hardness
radiation resistance
gas tightness (no open pores)
high mechanical, especially compression strength
