  • More thorough investigation of the SSiC fuel manufacturing process is necessary as well as extensive fuel testing in large-scale experiments under operational conditions.
  • The potential for upgrading fuel elements by SSiC encapsulation justifies enforced R&D, before immature solutions of cladding may endanger innovative reactor concepts.
