SSiC IN-LINER PLUS POTTING IN MULTILAYER CONCEPTS

The implementation of SSiC IN-LINER plus POTTING upgrades existing designs with metallic canisters.

It protects the inner surface of the metallic wall against the corrosive attack of aggressive radionuclides.

It suppresses the free transport of fission products within the canister volume.

In consequence,

• the immobilization capability is improved and
• last but not least, it enhances the mechanical stability under static and dynamic stress.

However, the ultimate goal is an innovative multilayer design with a ceramic surface, giving a corrosion-resistant, no-gas-generating encapsulation.
